Tokyo’s Narita International Airport has reportedly become a testing ground for Honda’s fuel cell FCX Clarity. Honda has given an unknown number of FCX Clarity sedans to the airport to chauffeur passengers from the airport to downtown Tokyo, which is roughly a distance of 45 miles.
The Honda FCX Clarity’s taxiing duties began on September 5 and will help test the vehicle under real-world driving conditions, including freeways and stoplight-peppered city streets.
According to Narita Airport officials, the FCX Clarity will be under constant use, which will give Honda plenty of data to use as it evaluates the car’s zero-emission technology.
Honda has been testing prototypes as well as running field trials of the FCX and now FCX Clarity for over 5 years now. The car is available for lease in Southern California.
