Honda Civic and Honda Odyssey Earn Coveted Honors

The 2013 Honda Civic in Lynnwood and the 2013 Honda Odyssey both earned the 2013 Best Retained Value Awards from Edmunds.com in three different categories. The Honda Civic was honored in both the Sedan and Coupe $20-$30k categories and the Honda Odyssey led the minivan segment for maintaining the highest projected residual value after five years of ownership as a percentage of value when new.

For 2013, the Honda Odyssey is the preferred minivans of professional reviewers and testers. With a high rating of fuel-efficiency and reliability, and low rating of cost-to-own, the Honda Odyssey in Lynnwood is the best choice for a family hauler available in the U.S. According to Edmunds.com, you can expect “agile handling, a quiet cabin, top safety scores and an easy-to-fold third row”.

The 2013 Honda Odyssey is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 providing 248 horsepower and 250 lb ft of torque. It has a fuel rating of 27 MPG on the highway, 18 MPG in the city and and estimated 21 MPG combined. the optional six-speed transmission adds 1 MPG to each of those ratings, making it 19/28/22.

Safety standards include stability and traction control; front, front-side and side airbags throughout; antilock disc brakes and active front head restraints. The 2013 Odyssey received five out five stars in crash protection and a top rating from the IIHS.

The Honda Accord vs. New Mazda 6

Ultimately, any new vehicle to enter the mid-size sedan segment gets compared to the Honda Accord. The Honda Accord is the “it” vehicle of its class, outselling its competition for nearly three decades. It was to be expected that once the Mazda 6 made its debut onto the scene, it would ultimately be compared to the new Honda Accord in Lynnwood.

To begin with, Car and Driver pitted eight vehicles in the same class against the Honda Accord to see who would fight the Mazda 6 for supremacy. In the running against the Accord were the VW Passat, the Kia Optima, the Hyundai Sonata, the Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Malibu. After the Accord took out these five, Car and Driver put the it up against the new Ford Fusion, the Nissan Altima and the newest VW Passat.

The Honda Accord takes out all its competition, with a smaller cost-to-own price and a universally loved style and features list.

The Honda Fit EV

The 2013 Honda Fit in Seattle has an electric version that takes the already very green Honda Fit and makes it even better. The Fit EV looks much like the gas-fueled version from which it was inspire. Their main differences remain under the hood, with the Fit EV being powered by an electric motor providing 123 horsepower. In order to access this power, the electric motor draws on a lithium-ion battery pack located in the cargo area.

Overall efficiency is beyond excellent in the 2013 Fit EV with an MPGe combined fuel rating estimate of 118 mpg. It also has an estimated range of 82 miles on a full charge. Both of these ratings are better than the Honda Fit’s main competitors.

A full charge on the Fit EV takes about three hours using a 240-volt-compatible charger which comes with the vehicle. Other electric vehicles in its class take around four hours to charge using a high-capacity charger.

Honda Hands Out New Sports Award

Every year, Honda gives out The Honda Sports Award to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. The Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year is selected from the 12 individual sports winners.

This year, Bridget Sloan, a freshman gymnast at the University of Florida has won The Honda Sports Award for gymnastics. Sloan is the second consecutive freshman to win the award, as her teammate Kytra Hunter, a sophmore, won the award in 2012. Bridget Sloan becomes only the forth freshman gymnast to ever collect the Honda Award and the third UF gymnast to claim the award.

As a reward for Sloan claiming the award, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., will donate $5,000 to the women’s athletic program at the University of Florida.

Honda Expands Green Energy Tech to Homes

The 2013 Honda Civic EX-L Sedan

The 2013 Honda Civic has been given a few essential updates for the new model year; including the overall exterior style, interior ambience, as well as the suspension and steering. Honda Expands Powertrain Options

In other parts of the world, diesel fuel is cheaper and therefore more popular. Since diesel engines are not only more powerful, but have a higher efficiency rate, pumping out more miles to the gallon, it’s no wonder that it is the preferred mode of fuel for several countries.

Diesel engines are just now becoming more popular in the U.S. New Honda in Lynnwood models may soon have a diesel engine option, now that Honda is expanding these powertrain options into emerging markets. India is a big one right now, where cars, and diesel cars in particular, are becoming more popular.
